Personal Statement...

Through a fascination with process, my abstract works are constructed both with a physical accumulation of materials. and illusionary layered forms. The 2D images and 3D constructions reveal multi-facetted configurations, fluctuations and complexities of the inner Self.

My work evolves organically - Preceding layers affect and determine the next, and subsequent future layers, in an ongoing morphosis. Such is life.
I live and work on the Jurassic Coast, a 95 mile stretch of the Devon/Dorset coastline - recently designated a World Heritage Site. The dramatic linear properties of outcrops of weathered, fissured rock formations provide inspiration for my metaphoric representations of internal accumulation, fragmentation and the effects of external forces.

On The Line...
My works are executed through rigorous planning and with the application of multiple layers. There is always a strong linear element in their composition. From a traditional background favouring observational drawing, I have retained a love of line. Lines converging, lines meeting, and the accentuation of the edge are important factors in my work - creating a dramatic tension, whether through adjacent colour contrast, or the overlapping of colour or materials.
